It's a new day at Merrimack Valley Hospital. We are delivering on our promise. The hospital added new employees, physicians, and services. We purchased cutting edge medical equipment and emergency management software, and completed a $3.3 million dollar renovation project to vastly improve our Outpatient Services Center. In 2006, we opened a new 54,000 square foot medical office building - Merrimack Medical Center - adjacent to the hospital. We are committed to you and your good health.

Merrimack Valley Hospital is pleased to announce that through a partnership with Diversified Clinical Services, The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine will soon be opening on the 3rd floor of the hospital.

Medical Director Walter Kwass, MD,  Board Certified Vascular Surgeon, and the specialty trained staff at the center will be dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment using the most technologically advanced wound care therapy. In addition, they will provide valuable education to patients and caregivers to assist with problem wound management. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is used as an adjunctive treatment for problematic, non-healing wounds that meet specific criteria, and it is expected that 20% of the wound care cases will meet those criteria.

The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is designed to complement the services offered by the physician – it is an extension of the physician’s practice. Patients will receive outstanding, professional and courteous attention in the timeliest fashion, and will then be returned to their referring physician

 

Merrimack Valley Hospital maintains 107 acute care beds and 17 adult behavioral medicine beds; all are private rooms. The hospital’s clinical strengths include a 24-hour emergency department; orthopedic, endoscopic and general surgery; adult behavioral medicine care with a focus on geriatric issues, a comprehensive Pain Management Center, and a Sleep Study Lab. MVH also provides a wide range of outpatient services, such as bone density testing; dysphasia testing; echocardiograms; electroencephalograms (EEG); electromyography (EMG); full-field digital mammography; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); position emission tomography (PET-Scan); pulmonary function testing (PFT); nuclear medicine; surgical day care; ultrasound (general & obstetrical), and physical therapy and x-rays, and 64-Slice CT scans.
