TALLMAN EYE ASSOCIATES GIVES BACK!

Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence is beneficiary of Casual Fridays.

Tallman Eye Associates presented a $1,600 check to Bridget Shaheen, Executive Director of Lazarus House at their employee quarterly meeting on February 13, 2012. The money was raised by Tallman Eye Associates' employees and then matched by the Partners, by allowing workers to wear jeans on Fridays in exchange for a $5 donation. We called it our "Denim for Dollars" campaign!

Along with this monetary gift, for the past year Tallman Eye Associates’ employees have donated non-perishable food items to the Lazarus House. A large box is positioned in the cafeteria that gets filled and delivered to Lazarus House every 1-2 weeks.

“I am very proud of my co-workers and the partners for the very generous donations to The Lazarus House Ministries,” said Theresa Riley, who organized the food donations.  “This is a worthy cause that helps head of households and individuals living in poverty regain their dignity and become self-sufficient members of our community.  We all feel very good about giving back to the community we live and work in.”

The employees of Tallman Eye Associates plan to continue giving back to the local community with the "Denim for Dollars" campaign throughout the year, alternating recipients each quarter.

In response to environmental issues, in mid May 2011, Tallman Eye seeks to generate less waste. Going with EMR helps to reduce less paper work and less paper waste. This will reduce our environmental footprint!

As a bonus, EMR can help reduce  errors with medical records and improve overall organizational efficiency.

According to HowStuffWorks.com an average tree yields 80,000 sheets of paper. Therefore, if every doctor in America was fully electronic, according to figures provided, we could save about 17,500 trees a year!

Please bear with us at Tallman Eye Associates as we make this gradual change. In the beginning, extra time will be needed with rach patient as we implement this new program.
